Swimming Pool For EOTC Week 2016
Swimming Pools
We arrived at the pools and got changed. The pool was all to ourselves and there was an inflatable play thing that was going only for us. We spent time on that and other people were in the small pool and some people were jumping into the big pool on the other side. I was going on the playing thing and I also played with my friends jumping in the pool.
It was time to eat and I had a fruit cup and the home baking. Then we got to play again. I played with my friends and then the waves were going in the small pool so I jumped in that pool. We were in the deep end of the pool and the waves were going. It was crowded and it was hard to stay to the surface. The waves finished and we went back to the big pool.
We started to jump in the water again and we did tricks. The water was deep that we couldn’t touch the bottom. I went under the water and sat the bottom which was a big accomplishment. We went back to the small pool and relaxed in there. People were getting out and getting dressed so I did too. Once we were changed We all got to eat again. I Ate my sandwiches and it was delicious. We had to get out and hop on the bus to go back to school. We got back and we rested on our beds. Then it was home time. I thought it was fun because I was playing with my friends.
Sleep Over At The School Hall For EOTC Week 2016
Sleepover At School
On Wednesday evening at 5:45 for EOTC week the year fives and sixes had a sleepover at the school hall. I got dropped off and my dad and my brother helped me carry what I needed for the night into the hall. We walked into the hall and people were already setting up their beds. I put my stuff by the window by my friends. We set up our beds and got comfy. More people started arriving and the hall got packed. Suddenly Miss suiter got our attention and she told us we were going to do some games and she also told us the rules. We all got split up into two groups and one group did cricket and the other group did Hockey and Basketball. I was in the Hockey and Basketball team with some of my friends.
It began to get dark so we walked back to the school hall and the teachers let us play spotlight around the school. I was with Cyrus and Rita. We ran around and spotted over 300 people. The rules were that you can find the same person but you have to wait a minute or two. We kept running around until one of the techers blew the whistle for us to come back. We ran back to the hall because of an accident that happened while we were playing. Then we got to go out and play again. Except this time only two people were in. Rita and I ran to the big adventure playground and hid there. The teachers told us to come back to the hall so we did. Everyone came back and sat down at their beds.
We got to eat the home baking that people brought in. After we ate we got to have a milo. Some people didn’t like it because it wasn’t sweet and it didn’t have sugar but I didn’t mind it. After we drank the teachers put on a movie. The movie was called Flubber. My friends and I moved our beds into the middle of the hall and watched the movie there. The movie was about a guy who invented this green bouncy jelly thing. We didn’t get to finish the movie that night because it was getting late. Two of my friends moved back to their spot but Rita, Nina and I stayed in the middle and slept there.
The next morning came and people were up at 5:00 and were talking. I woke up at 5:30 and My friends were up too. We stayed up and talked and then the teachers got up and it was time to get dressed. We all got dressed and we went outside to do fitness. For fitness we did laps around the field and we did some events. It started to spit so we went back inside and the teachers were getting breakfast ready. I had baked beans on toast and other people had weetbix. After breakfast we cleaned up our beds and moved it into our classrooms. Then we played board games in the hall.
Te Papa Museum For EOTC week 2016
Te Papa Museum
On Wednesday the year fives and sixes caught the bus into Wellington to go to Te Papa’s Museum. Once we got there we sat outside and ate morning tea. We finished eating so we went into our groups because we got split up into groups before we went to Te Papa. We walked inside and we put our bags in cages and we got given an activity sheet. Our activity sheet was about finding stuff about the māori times and drawing māori patterns. We went exploring the museum and found a lot of interesting stuff about the war and the māori times.
We went to this discovery centre where it was a little play ground for little kids in the museum. There we had to do something on the activity sheet like we had to draw a pattern. After we drew that we also had to draw Māori tattoos on a body on our activity sheet. After that we left that discovery centre and went exploring the museum again. While we were doing that we found a object that was on our activity sheet so we completed that part of the activity. We were walking and we found Miss Hills group waiting for the tour that Miss Smith was doing. We were ready and able to go in so we went in and Miss Smith told us about this guy named Te Rauparaha and that he had six toes like a taniwha. After we finished that we went down to the entrance to meet up with everyone else. We got our bags out of the cage and sat down. After that we ate lunch outside and then we hopped on a bus and went to a place called Sound And Vision.
Sound And Vision
Once we got to Sound And Vision we got off the bus and lined up outside ready to go in. We walked in and inside was a cafe. We walked past the cafe and there was a man welcoming us into a room which was like a movie theatre. We sat down and got comfy because we were going to be sitting for a long time. The man Introduced himself and asked a few questions. After the questions he put on a few videos for us to watch. Some of the videos I didn’t really understand because there were no sound just pictures, but the man explained what the picture was saying and the story behind it. He played more videos and some of the videos had a sense of humor. He also explained what some of the videos meant. We were watching videos about the old Wellington times and what Wellington looked like back then. Half way through we got to stand up and have a stretch and then sit back down. A few people were sleeping during the videos as well.
Survival Day For EOTC Week 2016
Survival Day
On Tuesday for EOTC week we did a survival day. First we did fitness. For fitness we did two laps around the field and then we went into the hall and lined up in our class lines. We all got split up into five groups and I was with most of my friends. Once we got split up my group went to room 8 and in room 8 we did cubes and cards. For the cubes we had to make one up and write things to do like 20 star jumps and other stuff. For the cards we had to make one and it could be a christmas one or a thank you one. After we did room 8 we went to room 11. In room 11 we did a poster about what to have when a Earthquake happens. We did things like packet food, water, torch, toilet paper, and other stuff. After that class was morning tea.
After morning tea we went to room 10 and in room 10 we had to number 1 to 15 for what is important to have in space. We had things like oxygen, response map, water, pistol, parachute and other things. Next class was the hall and we did games. The first game was tic tac toe and the second game we played was stepping stones. I thought it was fun because we all worked together as a team and it was funny getting across to the other side. After we finished that class the bell rang for lunch.
After lunch we went to room 17. In room 17 we learnt about how to treat some one when they are choking, broken their arm, go into shock and when they hurt their foot. We watched some videos and learnt how to treat them correctly especially when a person is in shock. Once we finished that class we went back to class and then we went home.
At Aotea Lagoon For EOTC Week 2016
Aotea Lagoon
On Monday for EOTC week we walked down to Aotea Lagoon. The weather was beautiful and hot. We had to walk with a buddy and we had to stick with them the whole way down until we got to the lagoon. Once we got to the lagoon the whole syndicate sat down on the grass field and the teachers gave us instructions and told us the rules. They had finished talking and we had a choice to eat or to go play. Most of us went playing. We all played on the playground and on the field.
On the field there were events like Tager War, Rugby and Soccer. Other people were playing ball tag around the park and other people were just playing on the equipment. I was playing Tager War and my hands got so sore that they went red and got splinters. The rope was rough like a porcupine. It was boys against girls and the girls won a few times. Suddenly we all got called back to sit down on the grass for a feed and an update of what is happening. We got to go play again and Cyrus, Rita, and I went to go play soccer on the field. Play time was finished and it was time to leave. We got with our buddies again and walked up the hill by Aotea block.
It was so hot that I felt dehydrated but we made it back to school. When we got to school I went to the water fountain and then I went to class and sat at my table and relaxed. People were huffing and puffing that they ran to the water fountain. Then the bell rang for home time and our teacher let us go home. I thought it was fun and tiring because playing at the park and with my friends was fun and tiring at the same time. It was also tiring because of playing and then walking up a hill to get back to school, but I still had lots of fun.
