Early Maori
Early Māori
When we had Whaea Toni in our class we talked about the early māori times. We talked about a whare, clothing, food, weapons and fire. We also talked about Moa’s and we also talked about warriors and how they hunted the Moa’s for food. Also we talked about how the people went toilet and we talked about how people made their beds.
What Is Technology?
Whaea Toni also talked about technology and what it was about. It meets a need or a problem, it is an invention by design, also about practical resources and it is also about innovation and adaption.
Weaving
The people made shoes out of a cabbage tree and they weaved beds, kites, and other stuff. Some things they weaved with were raupō and harakeke. They taught their children but now they don’t teach it anymore in this generation.
Some Things I Learnt
Some things I learnt was people in those days they made shoes out of a cabbage tree. I also found out that Moa’s were 4 metres tall and I found out that some Moa’s were alive when early māori people were alive too. Something else I found out was that the early māori people made their own beds out of flax and leather and different materials. Another thing I found out was the name of the toilet was long drop and the long drop was a long way across from their whare. Also that they used waka’s to travel because planes weren’t invented.
